St Drostan - Ladder of Spiritual Ascent

St Drostan is the perfect image of a Spiritual Father, and the icons we have been commissioned of him allow us to focus on a different aspect of the Sacrament of Confession in each one.
The three figures included in the icon – that of Christ; St Drostan and the repentant son – form an ascending ladder that elevates fallen humanity (represented by the son) through the Sacraments of the Church (St Drostan, as a symbol of all Confessors) to Christ Himself.
Grace descends from Christ through the Saints unto all humanity, and raises our fallen humanity to the sanctified humanity of the Saints, to the point of making us all One in Christ Himself.
May Christ, at the prayers of St Drostan, bless us beyond our most daring hopes!
