St Ninian Praying at Sunset

This is an icon of St Ninian prayng in his cave at sunrise. The holy bishop was praying in his cave for the protection of all those whom God had entrusted him. He often prayed through the entire night, asking for Christ’s blessing upon his people.
As an image of the perfect prayer, we have written two icons. The first one shows St Ninian praying at sunset, the other (also available from this website) praying at sunrise.
St Ninian is the main Protector of our Monastery Church, a 1755 historical monument, part of the national heritage, which is built on the foundations of a sixth century Celtic Monastery. Behind the church and cemetery, there is an ancient Holy Well dedicated to St Ninian. We pray here during all our summer pilgrimages.
