An icon of St Columba’s sailing from Ireland to Iona, under the blessing and protection of the Holy Virgin Theotokos. Although he was not the first to found a monastery in these isles, St Columba’s landing on Iona marked the real beginning of the amazing spiritual history of Celtic Christianity in our islands. This is an icon to bless any new beginning, any new spiritual path. It is also an icon for protection of travellers and those who are ‘in between’ long-term homes, physically and spiritually.

The icon is a very high quality reproduction of an original Mull Monastery commission.
It is mounted on durable, light wood, with round edges and a hanging hole.
Our original commissions are unique, never repeated and made using local photographs of the actual geography of the Isles. Most of our colours are sourced from the Book of Kells (made on the Isle of Iona during the Celtic millennium) and we try to combine Byzantine and Egyptian iconography, as a recognition of the historical, cultural and spiritual connections between the Desert Fathers and the Celtic Saints.
