St Cuthbert – commissioned icon of the great wonderworker from Lindisfarne (the Holy Isle of Northumbria), whose relics are preserved in the Cathedral in Durham. The person who commissioned the work wanted to focus on the facial expression of the holy hermit praying alone in the sea, at night-time.
